Lord profile

Your profile is the public face of your lord: a painted portrait, a coat of arms, a title and a motto, shown to anyone who looks you up. You also get a private page of lifetime figures (Renown earned, scouts sent, quests done) and live totals over your villages. The profile is cosmetic. Nothing on it changes production, combat or Renown.

The basics

  • You pick a portrait and design arms when you register (see Accounts). Lords from before registration, and any lord made without those picks, start as a hooded silhouette with no coat of arms; until they design arms, their crest on the map is a bare, unpainted shield.
  • The Lord panel also holds "Sign out".
  • You can change portrait, arms, title and motto at any time, as often as you like, for free.
  • The title is free text that you write yourself. An epithet ("the Bold", or a legacy title such as "King of Season 2") can be worn after your name; it comes from the Wardrobe (see Cosmetics).
  • A portrait frame, extra tinctures, charges, divisions and shield shapes are cosmetics too: bought with Crowns in the Wardrobe or earned.
  • Other lords see your public profile. Only you see your lifetime counters and village totals.

Portraits

Twelve painted busts to pick from. Until you pick one you are shown as a hooded silhouette (silhouette), which you cannot pick back once you have chosen a bust.

Heraldry

A coat of arms has five parts:

PartChoices
Shield shapeHeater, French, Iberian, Kite, Lozenge
DivisionPlain, Per pale, Per fess, Quarterly, Per bend, Per chevron, Per saltire
Fieldtwo tinctures (only the first is used on a plain field)
ChargeNone, Lion rampant, Eagle displayed, Tower, Stag, Boar, Fleur-de-lis, Cross patty, Key, Sword, Wolf rampant, Oak, Lymphad
Charge tinctureone tincture

Beyond these free choices the editor shows extras that are unlocked by owning a heraldry cosmetic: shields Swiss, Tournament and Round buckler; divisions Per bend sinister, Paly, Barry, Per pall and Gyronny; tinctures Tenné, Murrey, Sanguine, Bleu celeste and Cendrée; charges Mullet, Crescent, Annulet, Three roundels, Chevron, Saltire and Fess (drawn as vectors, not paintings); and the legacy Royal purpure, Cloth of gold, Crown and Mason's tower. Until you own one it shows locked and opens the Wardrobe. Registration offers only the free set.

Tinctures, with the colour the client paints them in:

TinctureKindColour
Ormetal#c49a3e
Argentmetal#e4ded0
Gulescolour#962c22
Azurecolour#2c4c7e
Vertcolour#3b6538
Sablecolour#2a2623
Purpurecolour#5a3a5e

Rules the server enforces:

  • Every part must be one of the listed ids, and any extra option must be one you own as a cosmetic ("That ... is not yours to bear yet").
  • A divided field needs two different tinctures.
  • On a plain field the second tincture is ignored and saved as a copy of the first.
  • On a plain field the charge cannot share the field's tincture, or it would vanish. A divided field has no such check, and neither does a charge of None.

The game does not enforce the heraldic rule of tincture (metal on colour).

When you open the editor without arms, it starts from a plain Argent heater with no charge.

Crest on the map

Every village on the world map carries its owner's crest on its top corner. The crest is a painted shield frame with your arms in its face, and it grows and shrinks with the village icon as you zoom. The frame shows your rank:

RanksFrame
0 to 3Weathered oak planks bound in rusty iron
4 to 7Hammered wrought iron with corner straps
8 to 11Polished steel with brass trim
12 to 15Gilded bronze under a noble coronet
16 to 19Ornate gold set with garnets, under a royal crown

A crest ornament (crossed swords, a wreath, mantling, a coronet) and a crest edge from the Wardrobe are drawn round this frame; they never replace it, so the frame always tells your rank. The map crest always uses the frame's own shape, so your chosen shield shape shows only on your profile. A lord with no arms gets the frame over a bare face. The crest follows changes to your arms at once, and your rank within a second or so.

Title and motto

FieldMax length
Title32 characters
Motto60 characters

Both are cleaned before saving: Unicode normalised (NFC), runs of whitespace collapsed to one space, and the ends trimmed. Length is counted in characters after cleaning. Allowed: letters (any script, with accents), digits, spaces, and ' . , ; : ! ? & ( ) -. Anything else is refused with "may only use letters, numbers, spaces and simple punctuation."

An edit can change any subset of portrait, arms, title and motto. The whole edit is checked first, so one bad field means nothing is changed.

Public profile

Anyone can fetch a lord by id. The reply holds only:

name, rank, Renown (floored), title, motto, portrait, coat of arms, guild tag and guild name if any, the number of villages, and looks: the cosmetic item worn in each slot (epithet, portrait frame and the rest).

Nothing about premium, unlocks, research, cards or resources is sent.

Your own figures

When you fetch your own profile, the reply also has details:

How the Renown counters work

Every server tick (5 seconds), and whenever you open your own profile, the server compares your Renown with the value it last saw:

gained = renown - renownSeen
renownSeen = renown
if gained > 0: renownLifetime += gained; renownToday += gained

So Renown from villages, quests, feasts, cards and battles all counts, each once. Renown you lose is not subtracted. renownToday resets on the first check after the UTC date changes.

One side effect: after a loss, renownSeen drops with your Renown, so earning that Renown back counts as new gain. renownLifetime is therefore the total of all gains, not your peak Renown.

Lords who existed before profiles were added had their counters seeded from the quest counters and from the number of researches and quests done, with renownLifetime starting at their Renown at that moment.

Messages

  • setProfile { edit } changes any of portrait, arms, title, motto.
  • getLord { playerId } replies with lord { lord, details? }. details is filled in only for your own id.
